TDI is the third swarm of teenagers to take command of Nomad, the sun-crisped Santa Cruz 27—a halfway house for wayward youth with a high tolerance for damp. Some of these barely-housebroken sailors already survived a tour on her, and the rest are here to add new layers to the boat’s rich, pungent history. They’re out to test the limits of hull integrity, interpersonal tension, and how long you can live on sour candy and ego. Also, they will make you feel old. Aggressively.

What’s the one piece of advice you’re absolutely going to ignore?
One piece of advice that we are going to ignore is stopping and having a toilet.

What’s the story behind your boat?
Nomad has completed the race with junior teams abroad for the last 3 Race to Alaskas and did Race to Alaska with Team Canal Rats a few years prior to that. Before that, it was a buoy racing boat in the Puget Sound.
