This race is a physical endurance extravaganza. Even if you plan to “sail the whole way” – you won’t. Give us a good strong description of your (and your crews’) fitness pertaining to your ability to get your chosen craft from point A to point B.
This is the meat and potatoes of this whole application, so take your time here. Your adventure resume is how the Almighty Vetting Team determines whether they’re thumbs up or down. So educate us about your experiences, and how they have prepared you for R2AK. Tell us about your pursuits, your experiences with adversity, and be sure to include examples of times things have gone sideways, and how you managed those situations. We do need to know that you’ve got the on-water chops to make this happen, but endeavors in other areas of exposure, risk, and adventure can do a lot to increase our confidence as well. Anything less than several thoughtful paragraphs about each team member is probably going to mean you’re getting a call from the Race Boss for more.
These photos are used to help identify your boat if we (or the Coast Guard) are looking for you. So a good shot of your boat is: in the water, sails (if you have ’em) up, showing bow to stern and anything that makes it identifiable from some distance over water.
Designer, model, history, length, etc. Anything that you think is relevant. And how are you going to move her when there is no wind?
Why do you think we should let you race?
