Team Death Warrant is hauling a 25-foot-long, 10½-foot-wide multihull from North Carolina to Port Townsend. Yeah, on public roads. That means permits, planning, and a cross-country pre-race adventure before they even touch salt water. Nate and Justice bring big Coast Guard vessel experience and the steady confidence of people who’ve spent an entire summer “tuning” a boat that requires structural archaeology instead. The barn-resurrected platform—complete with amas (does that make it a quadramaran?) hadn’t sailed in over a decade before they dragged it back to life. It’s comfortable. It’s wide. It’s mildly alarming. Perfect.

And also, there’s Stephen—the two-time R2AK offender and known owner of legitimately fast multihulls. He isn’t just advising from shore. He knows what fast feels like. And now he’s racing on this one anyway.

The goal, officially, is completion. The pedal drive is still in the realm of active imagination. The sleep plan the night before the start is theoretical. Worst case? They row. Best case? They reach Ketchikan upright, bonded by fiberglass dust and a 3,000-mile commitment to doing this the hard way.

What part of this race keeps you up at night?
Thin skinned 7mm Okoume plywood vs. debris in the water. The ability to perform damage control efforts with limited resources.

What’s your team’s origin story?
Two Coast Guard buddies in search of an epic adventure. While refining our list and selecting the “perfect” boat, we came across a custom catamaran for sale by one of the founding members of the multi-hull mafia. The additional crew member would provide not only ballast, but may reduce our probability of earning an entry into the SAR log of the Canadian Coast Guard.
