We just received word from Doug, Team Dark Star, that he’s heading back to Port Townsend.
“I am at Blind Channel Resort (!) after a half-day of double-reefed tacking. This was on my cruise plan but for last week…I’ve decided to leave the race and spend my next 2 weeks sailing south back to PT. This race has given me a Quixotic quest when I needed one, shown me I can still sail without my Admiral, and vividly made me aware of my potential and (even more vividly) my inadequacies. And I’ve met some awesome people to boot. So while I’m a bit disappointed to be leaving the race, it has given me so much that I’m really just grateful to have been in it. Gracias…I’ll peel the number 11 off the hull and save it for my shop. Go Sockeye!”
